Hi,

I have Syncrify setup to test it in our environment. I'm pretty impressed thus far with the functionality but the reliability is concerning me. I know of a number of files that have been changed but they do not appear in the daily email logs.

I checked the client and browsed the folders it is backing up. The new or modified files are shown in blue, indicating they have changed, but the files are not being backup up and no reference to them is in the emailed reports.

I'm using v3.3 build 688.

Any advice? I'm happy to do any troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Sash.

first tipp (request) was to use a (meaningful!) subject. It helps others to find posts (topics) they're searching for.
2nd have a look in the bugs section and what Imran wrote on my almost same issue.
3rd: 1st thing I looked for is if the files have not been backed up (look in the file system structure on the server or use the web interface) or justr not reported?

HTH, Frank

Thanks for the reply Frank.

Sorry about the subect and forum. I had a meaningful subject and it was posted in Bugs forum, but I must have taken too long to post topic and it timed out. Most of the fields were filled post-timeout but it must have cleared subject and forum.

I checked the server and the files are not getting backed up (rather than just not getting reported).

I followed what Imran posted regarding the folder cache. Saving did not clear FolderCache so I manually deleted it. Testing now but it's taking a lot longer than before so might have been resolved (via work around).

...glad I could help. BTW: I disabled folder cache completely because I rather have a slower backup than an unreliable.
I'm going to re.open the case now as we're now 2 people facing the same issue with unreliable folder cache and this turns out to be rather a bug than an 'anomaly'.

Enjoy your sunday!

Sash,

What is the exact build number of your client and server?

Do you know if the files on the server were modified? Note, that cache should be used if files on the server side are modified through some other chanel

Imran.

Backups missing some files

Imran,

Both server and client are build 688. The client is Vista 64 bit OS and the server is Windows 7 64 bit.

The files weren't modified on the server. They are only ever modified on the client.

Thanks.

Backups missing some files

Sash,

We discovered a bug related to folder cache, which is fixed in build 700. Please upgrade Syncrify client and server to the new build.

Let us know if you run into similar errors after upgrading.
